Silk Care
How to Wash Silk Sheets Without Unnecessary Wear
Silk-sheet care is less about elaborate rituals and more about avoiding heat, harsh chemistry and unnecessary agitation.
Editorial note: Product specifications attributed to a merchant are based on current manufacturer information. Silken Slumber does not claim hands-on testing unless explicitly stated.
Start with the label
The manufacturer’s sewn-in care label should take priority because dyes, finishes and construction vary.
Use cool water
Cool or cold water is the conservative default unless the item label says otherwise.
Choose a gentle detergent
Avoid bleach and harsh stain treatments. Use a detergent appropriate for delicate fabrics when permitted by the label.
Reduce agitation
A delicate machine cycle or careful hand washing reduces mechanical stress. A mesh laundry bag may help contain smaller items.
Move straight to drying
Do not leave wet silk twisted in the machine. Gently support the fabric and follow the permitted drying method.
