Definition

Momme, often abbreviated mm, is a traditional measure used to describe the weight of silk fabric.

What higher momme means

For the same fabric area, a higher momme means more silk by weight. The fabric generally becomes denser and more substantial.

What momme cannot tell you

It does not tell you whether the sheet fits your mattress, whether seams are well made, how the product is dyed, or whether the merchant provides good service.

Common bedding weights

Premium bedding is sold across a range of momme values. Promeed currently offers several sheet configurations at 23, 25 and 30 momme.

How to use the number

Use momme to compare fabric weight after you have confirmed material and fit.
